A fun yard game, Kubbs, also called Viking Chess, originates in Scandinavia around the turn of the 20th Century.
We were introduced to the game at a family reunion in Denmark, and really enjoyed it. We loved to see everyone there get involved and play, whether they were 7 years old, 70 years old, or somewhere in between. We made a set for ourselves when we returned, but only recently have we started producing sets of this game to sell.
Our set is made entirely from Douglas Fir, which is the hardest and heaviest softwood. It contains 10 kubbs, 1 king, 6 throwing dowels, and 4 stakes, all packed in to their own wooden crate.
We include a printed rule sheet, but we suggest that you browse this page to learn about the history of Kubbs and the rules local to your area!
We normally play Kubbs casually with friends and family, usually of all different skills and ages, so we have a set of rules adapted for our home. We expect that you may too adapt the rules to fit your style of play.
We are inspired by the things we use and see every day- by their design, functionality, sustainability, and durability. We are committed to being a part of the local economy and community, and have a passion to bring our locally made and thoughtfully designed goods to you.
Whether it is an item we regularly stock or custom work made just for your home or business, there is a whole lot of soul that gets poured into each project to ensure that it will endure use and remain beautiful and functional for years to come.
